Former Alcatel CTO joins DesignArt Networks Board of Directors - May 4, 2010

DesignArt Networks, the only provider of single-chip 4G base station SoC solutions with actual field deployments, has appointed Dr. Niel Ransom to its board of directors.

 Before launching his advisory firm, Ransomshire Associates, Dr. Ransom was worldwide CTO of Alcatel, where his responsibilities included managing corporate and product strategy, corporate research, R&D investments, and M&A strategy including such acquisitions as, Spatial Wireless, Watercove, PacketVideo, and TiMetra. Prior to that, he directed Alcatel’s access and metro optical business in North America.

 Oz Barak, DesignArt Networks CEO, said, “Niel brings tremendous industry expertise to DesignArt Networks. His advice, counsel, and industry connections will prove extremely valuable to our executive team, helping us to extend our current success in delivering next generation wireless SoC solutions to the global 4G mobile infrastructure market.”

 Dr. Ransom also serves on the boards of CoreOptics, kbro (Taiwanese CATV operator), Cyan Optics, and Polatis. He serves on the advisory board of Ruckus Wireless and Quantenna Communications and served on the advisory board of Solomio (mobile applications) that was acquired by Openwave. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, BSEE and MSEE degrees from Old Dominion University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
